One or more

Although works produced through a collaborative process could be extremely fascinating at times, I am a strong believer in the importance of the singular individual aspect of the creative process. From experience I have noticed that a collaborative process works very well in situations where you would have to find a solution to something. But when it comes to creativity, even though working together with others can be extremely beneficial, I feel as though the full potential of an individual can be undermined sometimes. I believe that there is a distinct nature to a solo artists' comics that makes it easier for us as readers to discern his/her style, and understand the true meaning and intent behind a comic. Whereas in a collaborative field, I believe artists, writers etc. may have to compromise on what content to place in the comic/novel, limiting each individual's creativity and style. For example we are aware of Herge's distinct style in the classic Tintin comics. I am not sure we will be able to appreciate those comics with the same fervor if it were done by a collaborative group. Additionally, it makes it quite difficult to portray a unified single message since ideas are coming from many sources in a collaborative group. I will say this though. Collaborative comics can be very successful when the people within the group are on the same page and their creativity is able to blend together. This provides further ammunition to create a compelling story and art piece that will blow away the readers. Anyway this is just an opinion.

Have a good winter break.
