Crime Suspenstories... Not very suspenseful

Reading the different stories in Crime Suspenstories, I never felt I was on the edge of my seat with suspense. The stories mostly just felt drawn out (even though each story was only a few pages long) and anti-climatic. For example, in the third issue, A Snapshot of Death! I predicted a dramatic confrontation between the woman and the hired killer concluding with the murder of the woman. Instead, the woman merely passes out and lives because the hired killer was already murdered behind the panels. The most exciting part of the action was not even know in the pages! Alternatively, the ending of each story might purposefully have been structured to be anti-climatic to give readers a sense of "wanting more" to encourage them to purchase the next issue. Admittedly, I did want to read the next story after every issue purely because I was so drawn into the pages, that the anti-climatic nature of each ending left me with a desire to read even more stories. If this was their intent, then the creative team behind Crime Suspenstories was very successful in their publication.

  1. I couldn't have said this better myself. I completely agree with this and believe that the anticlimactic nature of the stories may have had a hand in securing my interest for some reason.
