Falling in and out of love

The "Torchy Brown Heartbeats" series was interesting because I was intrigued by how the character was able to fall in and out of love so easily. There was a pattern to how the story unfolds. Torchy Brown has a lover whom she professes her undying love for. But for some reason she deems herself unfit for her partner and makes the decision to leave in order be far away from her lover. In her next journey she meets another fellow, who eventually becomes her love interest. She then repeats this pattern twice in the series, which makes the comic quite predictable. Even more fascinating is the surmountable enthusiasm used to describe the love she has for each partner. They are all similar and it kind of devalues the connotation behind the word.

  1. I think her emotional relationships could be interpreted as the representation of modern love. I am not sure if the strict definition of love could be applied to this case but it might be important to note that the modern way of emotional relationships are different from traditional views, which Torchy Brown seems to represent.
